Hey.
As the title says, i'm trying to create a custom Windows XP cd with a program called nLite. I know i have to include drivers for my computer, and i do know how to. I do however not know which drivers i need and where i can find them. Can't i just install XP without those drivers and then download Driver Genius (or whatever it's called, it's a program that finds and downloads drivers for your computer) and install them afterwords? I've heard that if you don't include some drivers on the disk, you wont be able to install XP because you'll get an error that says that it couldn't find any disc's on the computer... true? Does the computer itself have any necessary drivers that i must include? My computer: HP Pavilion a6110.sc Desktop PC - More info here. --- As you can see i'm really lost here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Thanks a lot in advance. -Nike

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
I would make sure I at least had drivers for the following devices beforehand.
CD-ROM Read Up to 40X Wireless Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g Video Graphics Integrated graphics Sound/Audio High Definition 8-channel audio * ALC 888S chipset Network (LAN) Integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface Memory card reader

I guess if you have another computer you can download them with you should not have no problems.

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
So you're saying that if i install Windows without those drivers, i wont be able to connect to the internet and download them then?
If you go to a computer store and buy a new Win XP CD, it doesn't contain all the drivers, does it? So how does that work then? Also... i found a website called driverpacks.net which has several packs of drivers available for download. Can i download those packs and include them on the CD instead of downloading each driver seperate? Cause i don't know where to find them all and which exact one's i need.

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
Sorry I think I got a little confused, the disk you are creating is to be used on several different computers or do you want it for just yours?
If for yours only then I would place those drivers on the disk but if for other computers then I would leave out those drivers.

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
I'm probably going to use the CD for all of the computers i have. (which are different)
Does that matter? Anyways; you didn't really answer all my questions :/

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
Yes, you can integrate driverpacks into the xp installation using nLite
Yes you can install xp without the drivers in the installation but as said earlier after the installation is done, you will need to install the drivers for the pc if any are needed. As posted by MikenandezNST, you will need to download the drivers and burn them to a cd, install them to the pc using the cd you just burnt.

One more question tho... "you will need to download the drivers and burn them to a cd, install them to the pc using the cd you just burnt." So you're saying that i can't download the drivers afterwords? Won't i be able to connect to the internet, or what? Thanks to both of you. You've been very helpful :)

Re: Creating a custom Win XP CD with nLite - How do i know which drivers to include?
Without the drivers for your Network adaptor . . you will not have an internet connection. XP may or may not load generic drivers for the card.
