DRIVER UPDATE & REGEDIT - Intel 915GM set
NOTE: THIS PROBLEM MAY HAVE GENERIC APPLICATION
SUPPORT: For an EXPERIENCED techie (my level reflected in ?) PLATFORM: Dell D510 (WinXP Pro w/ Intel 915GM graphics set) SITUATION: Install current Intel driver update. PROBLEM: Examining current (older) driver properties reveals numerous dll, exe, lrc extensions which I take to be (some or all) registry entries. When installing directly from Intel does the installer remover old registry entries? If not, is there a method to copy old entries to aid manual removal from registry using REGEDIT, Cclean or other? Is this maintenance issue (updating driver) an example of how the registry gets bunged up with old/useless entries? |
