[SOLVED] Soun card driver problem
Hello.
I've recently formatted my pc, but I'm not able to make the sound card work. I think it's a driver problem because the sound card userd to work pretty good before the format. The sound card is a Gembird SC-5.1-1, I've downloaded the driver (FM801) from several sources and installed it, but still no sounds after the reboot. Any help will be much appeciated. Thank you. |

Re: Soun card driver problem
Did you install motherboard drivers after your formatted and installed
xp? If not you should do so, and then try and install the sound card driver... Motherboard drivers tell the chipset how to handle functions of the system, ie, pci, agp/pci-e, etc..The generic driver from xp probably isnt seeing the pci bus correctly... You should have got a disc with these drivers on it when you purchased or built the pc. If not find the make and model of the motherboard go to there website, download and install.....

Re: Soun card driver problem
Yes I installed all drivers from the motherboard's cds, but the audio device wasn't there since this sound card is more recent than the mother board...
I'll try to download the chipset... |

Re: Soun card driver problem
If you have chipset drivers installed try this.
Unplug machine. Take sound card out. Boot up. The shut down again. Unplug machine. Put sound card back in, see if windows picks up new hardware, if it does point it to the sound driver, or cancel and install the driver manually.

Re: Soun card driver problem
Make sure card is inserted firmly. You may try going to control panel,
look for add new hardware and do it that way. May be that the card is kaput.

Re: Soun card driver problem
The card is well plugged, but I didn't manage to install it from the control panel...
And I think it's strange if it was broken by simply formatting c: while it used to work properly before... what do you think about it? |

Re: Soun card driver problem
When you format it wipes away all drivers for devices, nothing out
of the ordinary there.... If this is solved please look up top to thread tools and mark as solved,,,, Glad you got it figured out.....
