Accidently deleted Soundmax from add/delete programs[MOVED]
Hello,
Before I explain I have googled this problem all day yesterday and 3 hours this morning so far, so I have tried, although its such a mundane problem I got. I have an old works computer, and I was doing a clean up and I accidently deleted a program called SoundMax, now I got no sound, so i put 2 and 2 together because I'm clever, but not clever enough to realise I shouldnt have deleted it in the first place. Ive followed lal the posts of select it in device manager, and reboot and see if wondows installs it, I downloaded an exe file called sp28818.exe and that doesnt run to the end either without an error, so basically I need you guys now, to try and get my sound back. Its short on info here, as I dont know what details to post, or where to get those details anyhow. Any help will be veyr appreciated. Cheers |

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=
uninstall the sound driver from add/remove in the control panel reboot pc install sound driver reboot pc Tip: next time when doing cleanup, go to add/remove to remove programs there first, make notes on paper if several programs, then after rebooting pc, go look for any of the folders you have written down in program files folder or under Document and Settings.

Re: Accidently deleted Soundmax from add/delete programs
Thank you,
So I need to get a driver from that dell site is it, then download it to the desktop. When you say delete it from the add/remove programs, do you mean to delete this one or look for the old driver, which I think i got rid of in the first place didnt I? as in the soundmax program. Then do I load the driver through windows, or just do i double click the driver i just downloaded from the desktop. Thanks for you help, but I may need to ask to explain it a little more, as this isnt my forte. Cheers |

Re: Accidently deleted Soundmax from add/delete programs[MOVED]
Hi,
This should be the driver: http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=122481 I think Riskyone101 wants to make sure you have uninstalled any Audio driver you may have installed before installing this driver. From your post it sounds like you did already. Download the driver to your Desktop. Once downloaded double click on the ICON to start the install. Once done you can delete the Icon on your Desktop. Let us know how you make out. Bill |

Re: Accidently deleted Soundmax from add/delete programs[MOVED]
Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reply. I followed that link and clicked the download button and an error page appeared, seems they have either taken it down or its broken. Is there any chance you could check to make sure its not me. Cheers |

Re: Accidently deleted Soundmax from add/delete programs[MOVED]
Hi,
I had issues earlier with it, but it seems to be OK now. Try it and see. If not, you can try this link: http://download.cnet.com/Audio-Analo..._4-168812.html Thanks, Bill |
