Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered

Every time I run a game outside of Steam, my screen will go black and the game will freeze after a random amount of time (seems anywhere from 3-20 minutes in). Alt-Tabbing reveals a balloon in the Notification Tray of Vista saying, "Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered".

I have the latest Nvidia drivers for GTX 295 - which is also the GPU I have.

6 GB of RAM, Vista x64... Latest audio drivers...

Any ideas?

List your complete specs including PSU make and wattage.

Post temps and voltages listed from the BIOS.
