my dvd drive wont detect any disks

basicaly if i put a cd , or dvd, blank disk or any type of disk in to my cd drive it wont detect anything atall plz help if you can many thanks

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

Is the cd/dvd drive showing up in my computer?
Also look in event viewer under control panel, admin tools and see if theres
a code 39, let me know.

if its a ribbon cable one, make sure the ribbon is in all the way. i used to forget to push it in all the way
