Need ESS ES2898S Sound Card driver for Win XP
Hi all,
I re-formatted my computer (Win XP SP3), but forgot to back up the sound driver. So now the Device Manager is not recognizing the sound card (it has a yellow question mark and says "Multimedia Audio Controller"). Popped opened the tower and it seems that the sound card is ESS Teledrive is ES2898S. There is also "TAVB 6050S" written on the chip and I'm not sure what that means. Tried going to the manufacturer's website - driver is not there. Tried Googling the driver - all the links either give me something that doesn't work or try to get me to download Driver Updater. So any suggestions? I know that this shouldn't be so difficult. I'm probably making a stupid mistake when searching for drivers. Or maybe there is some magical all purpose sound card driver that I could use to get the sound to work..... Thanks, |

Re: Need ESS ES2898S Sound Card driver for Win XP
Hello,
Try downloading the Audio Driver from the Intel site for that MB. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...s=44&submit=Go! I believe the "ESS ES2898S" is referring to the modem.

Re: Need ESS ES2898S Sound Card driver for Win XP
Where does your speaker lead hook up to in back of pc?
In the motherboard itself, or a pci card near the bottom of the tower? (it will be a slot, pci card if you have a sound card add in)
