CD Drive
I'm sure you've seen this question millions of times about the CD drive being missing. It opens and closes just fine and I can hear it loading, but there's no recognition from iTunes or any other program. The CD/DVD drive is nowhere to be found in my Device Manager, either. I've gone through the registry to delete the Upper/Lower Filters, but those aren't there, and last time I did that I nearly broke my computer. I tried this (the AFS driver) as well, but that didn't work either. I've been searching and seen a lot of talk about BIOS, but I really don't know what that is/how to get to it. Any help would be VASTLY appreciated.
I'm running an HP dv2000 laptop with Vista. Thanks! |

Re: CD Drive
Bios: look at the screen as soon as the comp starts. It will say something like,"For setup presss ? key. Usually it's the DEL key or an F? key. Press/hold the key down and it takes you into the Bios.
A word of warning, to play with the Registry or the Bios not knowing what your doing can cause BIG problems, be careful! |
