help with thinkpad t60p

ok so my hard drive failed on my lenovo t60p and unfortunately i do not have the original cd's that came with the computer. If i install widows vista will it find all the drivers i need for my computer? and then would i need to download anything new like the fingerprint scanner i have? im just not sure where i can find everything i need for it.

Laptop drivers usually come on a setup disc supplied with the comp. have a look here before making your mind up about vista.

so are u saying that it would be better if i just stuck with windows xp instead of vista?

IMO, belfasteddie is trying to say that you may lose some functions or you may not have the needed drivers support if you want to use another operating system other than the one that the laptop came with. That is I think the reason why he posted the link for you to check if you have Vista support for each and every function and/or device present in the T60p.

You can always install a new OS like Vista on the condition that your hardware supports it and if you have the drivers you need to run the devices in your computer under Vista.
