Re: Ethernet controller problem
I suspect your problem is that you do not have the driver for your net work (Connection) card...installed.
I think you will need to find out who manufactured your card...go to their website...and download and install the correct driver. |

Re: Ethernet controller problem
i also think it's the driver or not the right one.
these machines often come in a multitude of configuration options.

Re: Ethernet controller problem
well, without inet, thats a little difficult. do you have anybody who can help you with that? obviously you can post here.
i would get SIW http://www.gtopala.com/ it should tell you what make and model network controller you have then you can go to your manufacturers website or to the makers website and download the proper driver

Re: Ethernet controller problem
do you have a thumb drive? i think it's actually small enough to fit on a diskette.
get the standalone, not the install. really it's the same. the install only create a program folder in the directory

Re: Ethernet controller problem
The lights come on when the cable is plugged in because the card has power, and the onboard hardware knows what to do. The problem is windows doesnt know what sort of card it is, or how to talk to it.
Go to the manufacturer website, go to the support section, and look up your specific model of computer (should be on a sticker somewhere). If there are multiple choices of cards, download all drivers that are available. Save them onto a thumb drive and transfer them to the broken machine. Open device manager, and uninstall the network cards that arent workng perfectly, this will help you start with a clean slate. Now you should start installing them until one of them works. Good luck! |

Re: Ethernet controller problem
You can go here: . . input the serial number of the gateway and download the driver to a flash drive or burn to cd. Then install on the Gateay

Re: Ethernet controller problem
Drivers can also be found here:
http://support.gateway.com/support/d...am=E2100&st=kw From the errors in the Device Manager you need the Network Controller and the Audio (Sound card). Bill |
