I cant download my driver

Recently my computer crashed and i reset it, when i try and run a Game program it says driver is out of date or uninstalled, so i tried to install it, it installed and then did nothing, still having same problem.

and welcome to the Forum

When you say you "reset it" exactly what did you do? What is the Brand/Model of the pc? What video card are you using?

When you look in Device Manager, do you see any devices marked with a yellow ? or noted as "Unknown"?

the graphics card is a Radeon x 1600 pro, when i was playing World of Warcraft the screen went blank, so it urned of my computer and turned it back on, and yes there is one yell ? mark in device manager is says Other devices and under it says SM Bus controller. I have took the graphics card out and replaced it with a older one to get back online to TRY and fix the problem. Last night the graphics card worked and we reset the computer to just make sure. then the graphics card wouldn't work, the computer loaded up but the screen was on but it was just black, so like i said i took graphics card out to get online and try and fx the problem

The yellow ? for the SM Bus controller would indicate the chipset driver is not installed or has been corrupted . . I would reinstall that either from your Motherboard CD or download from the motherboard manufacturers support site . . then uninstall any video card software you find . . reboot and reinstall the video drivers

Um should i deleter the ? and got to the driver download website and reinstall the driver for the graphics card i want to use?

Nope . . find your chipset driver . . either from the Motherboard cd or website and install that . . that should make the ? go away

then uninstall all video drivers you find . . reboot and install the video card driver

is this a notebook? Go to the IBM website and look for downloads

It is not a notebook. I formatted and installed Windows XP SP3 32 bit. Still doesn't recognize the card and can't install the driver needed. I get the following error:

I think I read this being an "INF error", but I haven't any idea on how to fix this.

Since this is a new install of XP, would you still recommend that I install the chipset driver?

I've been getting the drivers from the manufacturer's website. Will download and install the chipset driver now.

What driver for the chipset would I be looking for exactly? Since it states it's part of the Athlon 64, Opteron, Sempron, (K8 family).

Alright, I downloaded and installed an AMD K8 family chipset driver and then the driver for the graphics card, and I still get the error when installing the Radeon X1600 driver. I don't think I got the right chipset driver because I can't easily identify the model, all I know is that it's part of the K8 family.
