Help!! Audio Issues - Dell C521
Hello, first off i'd like to say great community you guys have here!
I have a Dell Dimension C521 with XP I have a CMI8738 C-Media sound card, the rest of the computer is all stock. I had to restore my computer a while back, and now it does not have audio (i forgot to backup the drivers) I have tried all the drivers offered on Dell.com for the computer i own. Additionally i have tried the link on C-Media (http://www.cmedia.com.tw/drivers.html) If anyone has any ideas, or can help in any way, i would be greatly appreciative. Thank you for your time! |

If you have no flagged devices, there is no reason to believe this is a driver issue.
Have you checked the sound settings in Control Panel, to make certain you do not have a mute button on, or something ? Have you double-checked to make certain the speakers are connected correctly ?

Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio
What is the "default device" under "Sound Playback" ? Under "Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Hardware Does it list that device, and does it say it is "working properly" ? Visit Windows Update. Maybe you are missing codecs, or need a driver update, or something...
