Question about Windows 7 Beta drivers

I'm using it on my desktop, and was wondering why I have to reinstall many of the drivers, when XP and Vista just automatically detects them.

Re: Question about Windows 7 Beta

Hi Zanev,

My name is Ron, and I’m part of the Windows Outreach Team.

When your XP or Vista automatically detects new hardware and searches for the drivers, it’s actually because that hardware is recognized as having a driver for the OS. The thing is, since Windows 7 is a Beta, not every piece of hardware out there has a driver that is recognized by Windows 7 yet.

Though, you can be sure that hardware manufacturers and Microsoft are working on creating drivers and updating drivers so users will have a full experience when Windows 7 comes to the shelves.

If you’re having any huge trouble with your peripherals, trying Vista drivers works in many cases.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Ron
