CD-ROM Drive not reading

My CD-ROM driver cannot read cds when I insert. When I insert a disc, the light flicks then it goes quiet. When I check with items on my 'computer' it shows the CD-ROM drive is ok and status is working alright but i cannot open the files or see the content on the disc. It just goes dead but ejects the CD well. What could be the problem? Thank you

Hi,
Are there any errors in the Device Manager (Yellow!? or Red x)

Have you tried to delete the Upper/Lower Filters:

Follow the directions EXACTLY

I also Have this problem and when I went to the specified location there was no Upper or lower filters.

I have tried the steps but i cant locate the files from my computer - 'regedit' it seems not to be there. What else can i do?
