zotac 9800 driver stops working

hope you can help. i have a driver problem with a zotac 9800gtx+ amd, im running vista 64 and my psu is a themalite toughpower 750.
i got the card and it crashed, found out 450 psu lacked power so got tough power, cpu stopped crashing but my 181.22_geforce_winvista_64bit driver seemed to crash with pink pixles.
i read on graphics card threads that the 178.24 was more stable and the pink pixle crash did stop but now every so often games slow and stop or just plain stop and vista says my driver stopped working?
please help...........

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

HI,
The sound and graphic issue are 2 different things.
Lets see what we can do for this graphics issue first.
Your temps seem to be on the high end for this card (72c).
It should be running around 37c-57c

Have you checked to see if your fans/Heatsink are dirty
Is this card overclocked?

As far as the sound do you have the latest drivers installed?

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

thank you for help...the zotac card is factory over clocked to750 mhz for the core clock and 2300 mhz for the memory clock. the card is about 3 weeks old and seems to be clean. looking in my case the graphics card sits near the bottom of the case but 1 and half inches below this sits a ATA/133 PCI card that runs four ATA hard drives, main hard drive is a sata. so 5 in total.
also one hard drive is below the the graphics card and the rear comes close to the fan on the g/card, i had to pull the cable from the hard drive down and away from the fan and also snip the label from it as this did cover a bit of the g/card fan. i think ill replace the 4 ide hard drives with a bigger sata drive and also ive seen double fans that go an the slot where the ATA/133 PCI card sits so ill get one of these too.........i will get these in about an hour, so no time to wait for a reply from you. i know it seems to be throwing money at the problem but the 4 h/drives add up to less than 250gb and this months money has come in..i just hope sata 2 is compatible with sata 1 motherboard!!!

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

HI,
Sata2 is compatible with a Sata1 motherboard, but you may have to jumper the sata2 (3.0GB) drives to run sata1 mode (1.5GB).

While you are in there check to make sure ALL your fans are clear of dust (CPU Heatsink/Case fans/vents, PSU fans etc.) and you have good airflow throughout the case.

If you were running 5 HD's along with the rest of your system, your power requirements might be on the low side or were tasking your PSU (The rquirements will change as you are removing these HD's) You may want to recalculate your PSU requirements.

I am unsure of what else you are using, but this may help you:
Power Supply Information and Selection

Let us know how you are making out.

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

sorry about delay. ive re-installed vista and now only have two harddrives.
my computer has slowed down to the point solitarre was going slow, then i saw Rockstar social club icon in the botttem left was still there after i had played gta4.when i shut this down everything speeded back up?
i think i might be having problems with this program...
my internet connection is 3 mobile broadband witch is slow at the best of times so i dont play games online, could this problem be linked to this.
i know this thread is driver based but could you help with one other problem i have..for quite a while now when i turn on my computer it does the normal thing of saying about hard drives and ram and then loads of writing comes up before windows starts, it happens so fast that i dont have time to read it.
when ive re-installed it stops for a while then comes back and until now i thought it was to do with a seperate card i had to run old ide harddrives but as ive now got rid of it and the old hard drives it cant be that......
im kind of paranoid that something is being put on my computer that i dont know about...
is there a way of slowing this writting down so i could read it.
Thank you so much for your help...

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

I am not sure what the screen is you are refferring to.

The screen that shows you HD and stuff upon bootup can be diabled by unchecking (I think) the box in the lower left of the screen.

As far as the screen that pops up with all the wrighting have you tried to hit the Pause/Break button on the Key Board.

Is the screen similar to this (see Attachment):

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

So this screen pops up before you get Vista loading?

Is it part of the POST?

How are these HD configured (seperate or in a raid array)?

What OS's are installed and are they on a seperate drive or partition?
Which OS is your first boot OS?

Bill

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

When this screen comes up (I believe it is part of your POST), can you hit Pause/Break button to stop the screen and see what it says?

This link will give you some info on what POST is:
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

I am not saying you have a POST Problem, The link above is for info purposes only.

What I need is more info on this screen issue to see if it is normal.
Chances are it is, if your computer is running OK

Have you still got the video issue after you reinstalled Vista and Win7?

Re: zotac 9800 driver stops working

HI,
Got the picture.
(I have attached it below)

This is a Linux boot loader.
Do you have or have a linux distros installed?

When you reinstalled Vista (By itself) did this screen appear?

Are both the Vista 64bit OS and Win7 legit (From Microsoft)?
