[SOLVED] Need driver help
Hi,I am currently trying to fix a friends laptop. Its a toshiba Equium L40 - 14l.Model number PSL49E-004005KS.There was a problem with vista on it,i tried everything to fix it,it just would not boot up. A friend and I were unable to do anything, it was as if it was corrupt or something. So we installed xp with sp3 and deleted the original os. It works fine except for there is no sound at all,not even with headphones plugged in. In the sounds and device properties everything is grayed out and it says "No audio devices". Iv searched many sites and cant find a driver for this laptop!Im guessing its because i wiped the hard drive and changed os?Im not even sure if its the driver,im not an expert!Any ideas??

Re: Need driver help
Hi,
Lucky for you the Toshiba European site should have your drivers: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...jsp?service=UK Input your make, model and OS The install of SP3 BEFORE your other drivers were installed may cause issues (Sound). Was SP3 downloaded? To be on the safe side install the chipset driver first. Let me know what errors are remaining Hope this helps, Bill |

Re: Need driver help
HI
You need to install the MODEM, Video (Display) and Wireless Lan Driver from the link I provided: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...jsp?service=UK Input the make, model, etc. The unknown device maybe the HOTKEY UTILITY, So please download and install this also. Let me know what is left in errors in the Device Manager. Bill |

Re: Need driver help
Hi,
Did you extract the ZIP file to a folder and run the SETUP exe file? If so, try a manual install of the driver: Extract the Wlan driver to a folder so you know where it is. This folder will contain a sub folder RTL8187B. Then another folder XP Go to the device manager and right click on the WLAN error>Update> No not at this time>Select the ADVANCED option> Include this folder in the search>Browse to the folder you extracted>To sub folder RTL8187B>XP See if XP will pickup the driver.
