[SOLVED] Help downgrading from Vista to XP.
So I recently switched from Vista back to XP. Formatted and installed windows successfully. However I noticed there is no Ethernet recognized in network connections . I was wondering if this is a Windows Issue or I need the drivers for it. However I tried looking for the Ethernet driver with no success. I need a second opinion on what is wrong. I have gotten everything to work besides the ethernet issue.
Thank you. System Specs MSI P6N Diamond LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz TWO 2 GIG STICKS OF DDR2 RAM (I know XP only reads around 3 GBs) 500 WATT ANTEC POWER SUPPLY RADEON HD 3600 GRAPHICS CARD Any other missing specs please ask. |

Re: Help downgrading from Vista to XP.
Is the ethernet card a add on card or on the motherboard? If it is an add on card remove it after you turn off computer reboot computer without card turn it off again and install it in another pci slot if possible it should reconize the card and install it. If it on board then there are other instruction for that.

You can download the drivers that you need from the MB manufacturer website. The link below should contain the drivers you need. Just download the WinXp versions. http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...1&prod_no=1168 |

Re: Help downgrading from Vista to XP.
I've already seen this page. I don't see anything specifically dealing with the ethernet itself. Most of the drivers there are audio drivers.
However I don't know for sure what the first driver does. Could you tell me? The one that says "nVidia C72+MCP55 SATA RAID / AHCI Driver (For floppy driver)" |

Re: Help downgrading from Vista to XP.
Look for the one labeled System Driver.
"NVIDIA nForce 680i (C55+MCP55) SLI System Drivers" There in the description it will say what devices it is for. This should contain the drivers that you require. |

Re: Help downgrading from Vista to XP.
Good job makinu1der2 ! I'll mark this as solved.
Onboard sound and ethernet drivers are usually included in the chipset drivers. If the motherboard's website didn't have the XP drivers for the nForce 680i SLI chipset you could have gotten them directly from nvidia (or ati, via, ... depending on the chipset). Note that the drivers from MSI are slightly outdated (2007-10-04), the latest version (2008-09-12) is here : http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.23.html Last edited by justpassingby; 01-21-2009 at 02:02 AM. |
