new firmware for pioneer blu-ray player
Hi guys.
I am running an "OPT PIONEER BDC-S02BK BLU-RAY COMBO" in my system. I recently bought the die hard quadrilogy on blu ray, the first 3 films play fine but the 4th gives me an error. "this disk will only play in a region B blu ray player" Why would the first 3 work and not the 4th? The seller has suggested updating my firmware.... does anyone know much about this? thanks for any advice. |

Re: new firmware for pioneer blu-ray player
Hi,
If you are in Australia and your Blue ray is set to region B the disc should play. What setting is your Blue Ray set to? Go to your Device Manager>select your DVD-Rom (Blue Ray) and right click>Properties>DVD region If you are in Australia it should be set to B. Do Not change the settings unless you are sure as you are limited in how many times you can change the settings. If you do change the settings I am unsure if the other DVD's will play. I am not sure if they are locked or not. Other Regions: Region A: America, Japan, Korea, South East Asia Region B: Greenland, Europa, Africa, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand Region C: China, India, Russia, Remaining parts Asia This may also help as it describes it in Detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc To confuse things even more depending on the manufacture of the DVD it may or may not be region free (as outlined in the link I provided). Some manufactures have locked the region (as in this case) Who is the manufacture? As far as a firmware update, Pioneer has no firmware update posted for this exact model:(BDC-So2BK) http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/su...tml#fdvdwriter Bill Last edited by BCCOMP; 01-14-2009 at 08:47 AM. |

Re: new firmware for pioneer blu-ray player
thanks guys
in device manager it says it is set to "region 2" if i click Australia it says "region 4" do you want to change etc i clicked yes but it said it cannot change without appropriate media in the drive, i tried putting the working and non working disks in but same error. as for the manufacturer, its just a standard blu-ray pack with no brand names, i bought it from Brisbane off eBay but it had a k-mart sticker on it when it arrived... shame there is no new firmware, not sure what to do, don't wanna send back until absolutely necessary, postage will almost be the cost of the film. Re: new firmware for pioneer blu-ray player
I do not think the issue is your DVD-Rom.
I believe it is the DVD's you purchased. As dai stated you should get another set. |
