Reinstallation of ATI X300 on T43 results in wrong resolution options
I own an IBM T43 model 2687, screen resolution 1400 x 1050. A few months ago, I bought an external monitor (HP w2408h). This has posed two problems:
1) My computer does not recognize the monitor 2) Reinstallation of the ATI X300 driver results in the fact that my native screen resolution is no longer an option in display properties > settings > display Details: Even after installing and reinstalling all drivers, etc., for the monitor, my computer still never recognized the monitor. I have to force it by extending my desktop onto the monitor. However, when I do this and connect the VGA cable (I have no HDMI port on my computer), the monitor makes a low humming noise. I have contacted HP several excrutiating times. Two times, they said to contact IBM. Once they said the X300 driver might be faulty and told me to reinstall it. I just did so from the IBM support site, but now my native resolution is no longer available. So I've ended up with an additional problem of a fuzzy display. I have tried to reinstall the X300 driver several times, but it does not help. Could anyone help me, please? |
