yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

my computer is doing the same exact thing and I haven't the slightest idea what the problem is...at first it barely did it, and it would let me get onto the normal boot up, but I haven't been able to since last night....I can only get onto safe mode

If you are lucky, it is simply a device driver problem, and uninstalling and then rebooting will fix it.
what do you mean by the yellow or red thing? what am I supposed to do with them?...they're yellow sorry it was confusing

i do have a yellow flag....but i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do with all of this so i don't know what to do with it?

Re: yellow in device manager

well there is only one that has the "!" in yellow, and its the security processor loader driver "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" and when I click it, that's what it says on the status....but all of the hidden ones with the little white notebook paper has a yellow star looking thing, not sure if that's bad or not?...I'm not very good at knowing these things

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Hi,
Can you give me the make and model of this computer?
Also, go into the Device Manager and Right Click on the error in question>Properties>Details Tab
Under Device Instance ID can you post the VEN/DEV numbers you see.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

its a dell xps m1330 do you need the model number? its really new....i just got it last christmas as my graduation gift, so its pretty much brand new, and my dad is very much into computers and works with them so...but i did what you told me to do with the properties thing and i dont see device instance id. the only device words i see are device description, class, class guid, physical device object name, device for legacy driver, device instance path, and devnode status....i havn't dealt with this before so i'm sorry about not knowing what any of this is

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Hi,
Does this have Vista Installed?
Can you give us a discription of what Exactly your issue is?
I know the QUOTE you posted is from another thread, you should post your own issue to clarify it.
Have you tried a System Restore to an earlier Date?
Have you installed or uninstalled any programs or drivers recently?
Bill

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

yes, it does have vista installed and i tried to restore it to an earlier time like it tried to when i was rebooting it once and that didn't help, because once it rebooted from that screen it went back to how it originally was. which was what that other person said was wrong when i boot up my computer i've been getting white vertical lines(with a black background) going from left to right till it completely covers the screen and reboots the computer sometimes it takes me to the menu where i can choose to go to safe mode and sometimes it doesn't...it just keeps doing that until i think yesterday it wasn't turning on at all and i finally got it onto safe mode and i'm too scared to try and reboot it again till i figure out what to do because i need it for school...oh and i haven't done anything with drivers yet and i had the sims on there and i think that might have been what started it because it never happened before and i was letting my cousin play and thats when it started, and i uninstalled it

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Do you have any BSOD associated with this issue?
From my research you may have to reinstall Vista to resolve this issue.
Do you have the means to reinstall Vista?
Have you backed up your personal files?
Bill

Disable auto restart by:
Click 'Start'
Click on 'Run'
Type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the 'Startup and Recovery' Settings button
Uncheck 'Automatically restart', then click on OK
Click on OK to exit the System applet, then close the Control Panel.
Reboot for the changes to take effect

If the BSOD appears again Post the full error to the thread.

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

well nothing happened except those white lines i was telling you about earlier, and i was trying to turn my computer back on last night and it just kept going back to the white lines so i just turned it off and tried this morning and it finally started up and asked me to restore, and i said yes and it started with the white lines again when it was booting up after it restored it...but then after the whole screen turns white pretty much it reboots itself so it did that and it let me get onto my normal screen, not safe mode...but then the whole screen froze within a couple of seconds and turned black and did the whole thing over again and i'm in safe mode again....so i'm really not sure what to do

Re: yellow in device manager[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Hi,
Does this laptop have the Nvidia GeForce 8400M graphics card?
If so, (in Safe Mode) uninstall the diver in Add/Remove Programs and in the Device Manager. Run this program to remove any traces of the "old" drivers:
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

Reboot the Laptop and install this driver in Safe Mode:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvist...8.24_whql.html
Let me know how you make out.
Bill

Yes it worked!
You have a Nvidia 8400M video card.
Try what I posted previously.
