Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
hey, for last couple of days i have been getting a freeze then a blue screen saying KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR. i would have to restart my computer then it would be all fine. been researching a bit and some people been saying could be with drivers, faulty new hardware, etc.
well i got a new psu about 2 days ago but the blue screen has come up couple or times before that. no other new hardware. also for the drivers..i went to the dell site, to the drivers section and it had about 60 drivers for download. changed the importance section to urgent and it came up with 8 drivers. now im just wondering if they are urgent and all...how would someone whos not too handy with computers find these? i mean u dont expect someone to get a new computer then just straight away go to dell site and search for drivers. is there something that says i should be getting new drivers and which ones or did i disable something O.o so now i have no idea which ones do download or to just download them all. most of them say "applies to" something which i dont have. so i think it would just be useless. and i downloaded the mobo driver and it said could not find umm i think it was something like mywin.sys but yeh overall am i missing out on some kind of program which alerts me of new drivers and what can i do about the blue screen thing. oh and just so i dont have to post a new thread, i d/led that everest home edition program and it said my ram used around 650mb out of my 2gb. is this permanent and if so what happens when it fills up or is there a way to empty it =] thanks for any input sorry for writing so much i get carried away :D:D -b0k1 |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
hey, it came back today and i was kinda in a hurry.
i found this on the net and i believe it was just like this one. i remember the 7 in the code below A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen then restart your computer. If this screen appears again then follow these steps. Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need if the problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to disable or remove components then restart your computer and press F8 and select advance options then safe mode. Technical Information. ***stop: 0x0000007a (0xC03E14B8, 0xC000000E, 0xF852E384, 0x0F300860) and like i said the only recent hardware i installed is my 500w earthwatts psu. -b0k1 |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
Hi,
Stop the Auto Restart by: Right click on my computer > Properties > Select the "Advanced" tab > and under "startup and recovery" click the "settings" button. This will open a new window, and under the "System Failure" heading, uncheck "Automatically restart", and reboot I will need the exact error code. Also check to make sure your Cards are seated properly. You may have dislodged something when you put the PSU in. I would also run Memtest86+ under my signature to check your RAM. Bill |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
If you shut of the Auto Restart this will allow you to see the BSOD.
To Run Memtest you have to burn the ISO image to CD and reboot the PC (Boot from CD-Rom first) Bill |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
Hi,
The error code is related to your video driver, What is the make and model of this computer? If it is a custom built machine I will need to know the specs. Have you run Memtest yet? Bill |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
hey, that video BSOD was the first time ive ever gotten it. ive got a dell inspiron 531s desktop. my video card is an integrated geforce 6150SE nForce 430.
BUT i got the BSOD again the one i was talking about originally. i wrote it down and it had the usual: <windows encountered a problem> KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR <check any new hardware/software properly installed> the code was ***STOP: 0X0000007A(0XC0511F10, 0XC000006, 0X016018C0, 0XA23E2478) collecting data for crash dump... initializing disk for crash dump... oh and i havent read the memtest because i accident broke the pins of the sata data connector for my cd rom drive, and my older driver uses a moltex power connector but for the data connector i dont know what to plug in O.o is it possible to use something else other than a cd? thanks for replies oh forgot to say, after i got the BSOD for my video driver, i found this thing on my computer called "Problem Reports and Solutions" and it said it found a solution for something about nvidia, clicked on it and downloaded a 84mb ish video driver for nvidia, vista, 32bit. just thinking this mightve solved the video driver problem. my main concern is the kernel_data_inpage_error as i have gotten it several times already. -b0k1 Last edited by b0k1; 12-03-2008 at 06:50 AM. |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
Were you able to run Memtest86. If your memory is defective it would show you the errors in the lower end of the page. I am suspecting that you may have a bad memory chip.

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
the memory test i ran from dell diagnostics all passed.
also i got another kernel data inpage error with some differnent codes. this time it said: ***STOP: 0x0000007A ( 0xC07F33870, 0xC000000E, 0x4C1E38C0, 0xFE70EE88 ) i also relized that 3 posts before this one, where it says "0xC0000006" is meant to be "0xC000000E" i would just get a long lag very randomly then get the BSOD. i also get random lags and i really mean RANDOM it could be from clicking start to playing a game, it would lag for about 30 seconds then just be back to normal - SOMETIMES. other times it would go to the BSOD. please help these BSOD's are getting frustrating x.x -b0k1 Last edited by b0k1; 12-04-2008 at 09:50 PM. |

Re: Blue Screen / / Updating Drivers
If you ran the memory diagnostics from Dell and you came out OK, then run the HD manufacture diagnostics to test the HD.
How many HD are connected on this PC and How are they connected? Bill |
