Re: Help Please!!

Hi Cool Kid

DV9000 and DV6000 and x7xx Series with a AMD Processor ONLY

Please see the following:

I would highly recommend that you make a backup of your Vista OS.
Imaging the drive (Vista OS) will allow you to return to Vista easily. This program is free and is easy to use.

DriveImage XML
http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

You may wish to run EVEREST or PC Wizard to determine the Hardware installed on your laptop prior to installing these drivers. A link to these programs is located under my signature.

You will need a zip program to extract many of these drivers to a folder.
I prefer WIN.RAR here:
http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-...-10007677.html

I have also included instructions as to how these drivers should be installed. Do not skip around to try and install these drivers. They must be installed in the order given. If you run into a problem STOP and post it to the thread.

Now that you are set install XP in the usual manner

Chipset driver: Install and REBOOT. If XP complains extract the file to a folder and install the SM Bus Controller and Ethernet Controller through the Device Manager. Install and reboot
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_...p2k_14.10.html

Video Driver: Install and REBOOT.
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRA...Go-15655.shtml

Wireless Lan: Extract the file to a folder and install the Driver only.

Atheros:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cfdzj3eaizt
or
http://www.atheros.cz/download.php?a...006EG&system=1
(The above is a newer version)

Broadcom:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...reg_R1002_USEN

At this point you need to do a Full Microsoft Update (about 90 updates). You need to have XP SP2. DO NOT INSTALL SP3 until ALL of your drivers are installed and working correctly.

You will also need:

NET Framework 2.0:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Install and REBOOT

UAA Driver: Download and install
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

Audio Driver:
http://www.mediafire.com/?dg0cmmkm4y4

Extract Files to a folder. Run the installer. If it errors upon installation use device Manager.
From Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD".
Choose Update driver.
Check no to connect.
Install from a list or specific location.
Don't search I will choose the driver to install.
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers.
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
REBOOT

Modem: Yes it is a Vitsa Modem Driver, but it should work. Install and REBOOT
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN

AMD Processor Update: Install and REBOOT
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

The following drivers can be installed in the usual manner:
Depending on model accessories

Win DVD: Install before the Quick Launch Buttons
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...5&mode=4&idx=1

Quick Launch Buttons:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3759598

Card Reader Driver:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

Touch Pad Driver:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

Webcam:
1.3 MegaPixel (MP)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

OR

HP Webcam:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3224049

Blue Tooth:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...s&lc=en&dlc=en

Bioscrypt Verisoft Manager (for finger print reader)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN

Finger Print Driver:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s=2093&lang=en

Hopefully when you are done, you will not have any errors in the device manager. If you run into an issue please post it to your thread.

Good Luck,
Bill
