Latest Nvidia Drivers Blue Screen My System on Source Engine Games
For some reason whenever I try to run any source engine game on these Nvidia Drivers I get a blue screen.
The screen tells me something about a file in C://Windows/System32/Drivers called "nv4_mini.sys" The problem only occurred when playing Source Engine games like Half-Life 2, Portal, and the Left 4 Dead demo. The only way I could get the games to work again was by rolling back the drivers to a version dating back to August 22nd. Actually I didn't "roll back" so much as "update" to the latest version that Windows knew of. I updated to the real latest Nvidia Drivers through their website after Steam told me my drivers were outdated. Those drivers were dated October 7th (I believe) in the device manager. Those drivers blue screened my system right upon booting up any Source Engine game. So, I went into the Device Manager in Windows and clicked "update driver" on the graphics card and it "updated" to drivers dated August 22nd which only leads me to believe that somehow the real latest Nvidia Drivers never got sent to Windows. Steam support had nothing on blue screens. Any help? System Specs: * OS: Windows Vista 32bit * GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT * CPU: Intel Quad-Core 2.4GHz 512MB * RAM: 3GB |
