Webcam Advent ADE 300 N Blue screen of death everytime

As the thread title says sometimes it last 20 minutes sometimes seconds but inevitably whilst i am using the webcam i get the blue screen of death. Brother in law moved to america and sent all the family the same webcams so we can keep in touch (Advent ADE 300 N). They work fine on mums pc and other brothers but mine is just doomed to failure. Tried it with skype and msn but still the same thing happens. Set windows not to reboot on fatal exception and got this error code which on searching says maybe ram or drivers problems.
IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

*** STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000054, 0x0000001C, 0x00000001, 0x804E1630)

Disable bios memory such as caching or shadowing

Running windows xp home service pack 3 (still crashed on service pack 2)

Ram i would say is fine i have 4gb installed and it runs crysis on high for hours on end.
As for the drivers well i still have the original cd, have tried mums and brothers driver cd's to no avail. Cant find any updated drivers in fact its next to impossible to find any drivers for this thing. So im wondering if the drivers are conflicting with something on my system but how do i go about investigating this issue, it's driving me nuts that i cant even relax and have a chat with my bro without the comp needing a reboot every 5 seconds to 20 minutes.
Hope i posted this in a suitable section apologies if not.
Please help !!!!!!
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Check your BIOS settings and set them to default settings.
Then besure PNP (Plug and Play) is enabled.
Uninstall and reinstall the webcam driver.

To test the memory use MEMTEST86 under my signature.

Let me know the results.

Hi Bill thanks for the quick response, i reset the bios to default and checked PnP was enabled (it was). Downloaded a new set of drivers (managed to find a slightly newer version made by sonix) uninstalled the old ones rebooted and installed new ones rebooted once more. Then went to the gigabyte website and checked i had the latest bios and chipset which i did (i try to keep it updated as much as possible). Ran MEMTEST86+ with reported no errors. Tried skype again and just as i was getting my hopes up @ a never seen before 24 minutes of non stop chatting the blue screen of doom and gloom was upon me again. Uninstalled newer cam drivers and installed ones from original disc, skype lasted 8 minutes this time. Tried msn again and got another 12 minutes of chatting from that. By then ma bro had to go for his shift at work and i havent tried it since. Darn thing just hates my pc.

Re: Webcam Advent ADE 300 N Blue screen of death everytime

Yes Bill exact same message code as posted above ps just found out both my mum and other brother are using XP Pro on which both the exact cams are working faultlessly. Could this be a compatibility issue with XP Home.
Thanks Mike

I do not think XP Pro vs XP-Home is the issue.
What is the make and model of your computer?
Did you originally have Vista and downgrade to XP?

Bill

Do i have to remove the battery from mobo to clear cmos or is there another way?
Also as a side point i have installed and currently dual booting with Vista ultimate 32. Installed webcam driver to run in compatability with XP service pack 2 and the webcam runs perfectly from vista no crashes or blue screens of death even after using the cam for over 30 minutes. Im not really a vista fan as i have to overclock my cpu's in order to get it to run just as fast as XP. So would really like to get this cam workin in XP as i now know it's not the cam or drivers that are at fault but some kind of conflict with my drivers in XP.
Thanks in advance Mike

Re: Webcam Advent ADE 300 N Blue screen of death everytime

You may have a jumper by the CMOS battery. Removing the Cmos Battery (carefully) has the same result. I am trying to download your user manual:
http://america.giga-byte.com/FileLis...p_duo_2x_e.pdf

I got this off the manual
Quote:
You may clear the CMOS data to its default values by this jumper. To clear CMOS, temporarily short 1-2 pin. Default doesn't include the "Shunter" to prevent from improper use this jumper.

OR

If you want to erase CMOS...
1. Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
2. Take out the battery gently and put it aside for about 10
minutes (Or you can use a metal object to connect the
positive and negative pins in the battery holder to make
them short for one minute).
3. Re-install the battery.
4. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
But the lag time tonight is horrible here.
Bill

Re: Webcam Advent ADE 300 N Blue screen of death everytime

Hi i removed the battery last night and replaced it after 15 mins or so but didnt get a chance to try the cam in XP until this evening. Same thing happens cam gives me the IRQ error again and again at random times. Its working perfectly in vista still. This ones improving my grey hair ratio at quite a speed lol.

I am about out off ideas, so I am going to call in some big guns.
Please be patient. I do not want you to get any grayer.
