Please Help: My Asus drw-1814blt can't read cd-roms

My Asus drw-1814blt can't read cd-roms, but it can read cd-rs and dvd-roms. It says insert disk in drive when it's in there! Can someone help me get it working? Most of my games are on CDs.

The first one didn't work because there are no 'Upper Filters' or 'Lower Filters' to delete in the first place.

The second one I couldn't get to work either. Here's where I got to.

Have you tried a different media (brand)?
Have you gone into the MY Computer and click on the CD-Rom (with CD inserted into the drive) to see if it windows will read it?

It won't read music or different game cd-roms.
Windows won't read it, it even ejects it.

What is the exact make and model of this computer?

Hi,
The report does not tell me the make (Dell, HP, Gateway) and model (ex Dell Dimension 4400)

EDIT: I found something called a "ACPI x64 based PC"

If it is a BRAND Name model there will be a tag or markings of some sort on the tower.

No there isn't anywhere. From searching the site it's from I think it's a "Ultima OC".

Did you burn these games/music to CD?
If so what program did you use?
Do these cd's work on other PC's?

No I didn't - (CD-RW's actually work for me. CD-ROM's don't.)
Yes they work on other PCs (and used to work on this one)

Try burning one of the CD's using another PC that do not work on your Vista machine.
See if Vista will then read the burned copy.

I am beginning to run out of answers so I am going to give a shout out to others.
