Wonder What Codecs Should I Use
Hello everybody
Soon I'm going to get my new 22" Samsung LCD screen and I plan to enjoy some movie time with it ;) I have a few problems, though ![]() I've been wondering, which codecs should I use if I intend to play regular Divx\DVD movies or, hopefully, HD movies? My computer is pretty old, here's some information about it: 2.4 GHZ Processor Geforce FX 5600 Graphic card with 128 RAM 512 DDR memory I use K-Lite codec pack but it seem to be a little bit, well, buggy sometimes and I don't know if it really gets the maximum out of the movies I play cause, as for now, HD movies get stacked every few seconds and I can only pray for synced Audio... What codecs should I install or which codec pack (?) I need to use in order to play video smoothly on my old machine According to Microsoft my computer should be able to handle HD movies, at least 720p: Quote:
But it doesn't Which media player should I use? what codecs? what the hell do I need to do to get the most of this old piece of metal and play some movies without any problem? (remember, 22" LCD Wide screens native resolution is pretty high, what makes my computer's life even harder) Thanks :0 |

Re: Wonder What Codecs Should I Use
Thanks, but, well, that's only one codec, it won't play everything... right?
So, can I install it together with K-Lite codec pack or something to cover all other areas, or only this one should be just fine? (doubt it) Also, will it help HD (probably not) and Xvid\Divx movies run smoothly, better then without this codec? and it's a Xvid codec, it works with Divx? |

Re: Wonder What Codecs Should I Use
divx used to be freeware, when they started chargeing a group broke away and formed xvid which is freeware
xvid/divx reversed

Re: Wonder What Codecs Should I Use
Thanks a lot but which K-Lite should I use? Full, standard or basic, and should I install it without changing anything or there are some custom changes I should use (like tell it not to install a Divx\Xvid codec or so)
Thanks in advance ;) |

Re: Wonder What Codecs Should I Use
Yea, but as I said, my computer isn't that good, so I wonder if there's a codec, like the one dai recommended, which is able to play Divx\Xvid and HD movies smoothly and better then with other codecs on my computer
But I remember that VLC can play videos pretty good so I guess I would combine between this codec dai gave me with K-lite and also use VLC :] |
