Re: Audio driver

Hi,
Here is a link for all your drivers:
http://eu.shuttle.com/download/Downl...9-N_readme.htm
They are in a winrar (zip) format.
If you have not done so install the Mainboard drivers first.
Hope this helps.
Bill

Re: Audio driver

Yes, sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but I've already been on their home page and have downloaded those drivers. Installation of the Mainboard drivers went ok, but when I tried to install audio driver, an error message appeared.. The message was next:

"Our audio chip provides multi-speaker surround and realistic sound effects
Due to the fact that your computer is not equipped with our audio chip, you can not avail yourself of these advanced features."

Now I really don't know what to do.. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks...

Ps. I forgot to add.. when I go to Control Panel and choose option Add Hardware, the questionmark with a small exclamation point is shown only neht to "PCI Modem"

Re: Audio driver

Hi Kore,
Do you have a PCI sound card or are you using the Onboard sound card?
Can you go into the Device Manager: My computer>Properties>Hardware Tab>Device Manager
Post any errors (Yellow or Red exclamtion points)
Better yet if you could post a screen shot of the device manager with all the + sign expanded.
Here is how:

Thanks,
Bill

As you can see -I hope- there is only one exclamation point, with a questionmark, by the "PCI Modem".. Hope you know what this is about... Thanks

Hi Kore,
Can you right click on the error (PCI Modem)>Properties>Details Tab
Post what you see under Device Instance ID.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Audio driver

Hi Bill, it's me again... do you or anyone else know anything about my problem??

There have been some changes..
First, the name of the mainboard.... Everest says it is Shuttle AB49/N. But, when I turn on the computer, on that status report windows gives at startup, it says the name is Shuttle AB49 S 005. Don't know if it's important, but just so you know. Although, google search turns up no results for that.

Second.. I looked to BIOS and there was no PCI Modem recognized. But, the name of the Audio device was there.... it's AC97. Google search gives two results for that.. Realtek and VIA. Since VIA is compatible wit only few mainboards, and mine is not included, my only choice is Realtek. And I also remembered their logo so I'm pretty sure that's it. Now the ONLY problem is... it still doesn't work! I downloaded driver for Realtek AC'97 and installed it on the computer, the installation was finished and I restarted the computer.. and still got no sound.

So, can you help me now with this?? It looks like that PCI Modem has nothing to do with the sound, it causes another problem, I noticed that something blocks the Internet connection every five minutes, and than it takes a minute to get it back, and I think PCI Modem without drivers causes that, but that's not that important... It's actually my brothers' computer and he doesn't use the Internet that much, the sound is more important.

You tried to help me so far, please don't give up now

Thanks!!

Re: Audio driver

Hi Kore,
IS the AC97 enable in the BIOS?

The one thing I may have not mentioned is usually the AC97 Audio (C-Media) also needs this Microsoft driver KB888111 (UAA driver). This driver must be installed first:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...on-Audio.shtml

Your Audio driver should be C-Media 9738:
http://eu.shuttle.com/download/Downl...9-N_readme.htm
The above link is the one I gave you in post #2, so you should have this driver.
If not here is another link:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/cmedia-9738.html

Be sure you uninstall any previous drivers before you install the new ones.

Your modem is a Broadcom Corporation: BCM V.92 56K Modem:
http://www.soft32.com/download_182000.html
I am not sure if the modem driver will work (Generic Driver) to get rid of your PCI modem error. So after installing check your device manager for errors

Let me know how you make out.
No I won't give up!
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Audio driver

Well, I'm slowly loosing hope here....

Nothing works, I can't belive it. I did everything you said, but still, whenever I try to install audio driver at the end I get the message "Our audio chip provides multi-speaker surround...." Something is still wrong and I just can't fix it.

As for the PCI Modem driver, the link leads to download page, which redirects me to the message "Unfortunately, the publisher of this program has not submitted any valid download links". The total number of downloads for that driver is 1.

Thanks for your efforts so far, but I'm not sure we will ever fix this.

The drivers varies for each OS. XP drivers (for the most part) are different than win98 drivers.
Lets do this. Copy and paste your everest report (Full report) to note pad or a word program and attach it to the thread.
This way I can "see" what you have in your system.

Thanks,
Bill

Re: Audio driver

Which report do you need? The "Computer Summary" report is in the first post, tell me what else to copy...

The reason I asked about the importance of the OS.. The computers' operating system IS Windows XP Professional, but it's so called Black Windows.. I guess you know all about it so I wanted to ask - is it possible that this version of Windows somehow effects the motherboard or anything? Because I didn't have any problems with installing these same drivers the first time, when the computer had "normal" Windows.

BTW please try to ignore writting errors

Re: Audio driver

Hi Kore,
Now I know why we can't get the driver to work.
Black Windows is considered a Pirated copy and we can not assist in resolving this issue.
It is against the rules:

"ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

Users may not post hacks, cracks, or give instruction how to pirate any type of software, or anything similar, in any forum of TSF. We do not condone, support or give instruction on any illegal activity pertaining to computer systems, computer hardware, computer software programs or computer related activities. Included in this group of activities are requests for help to circumvent system admin passwords or Administrator settings on networks. We do understand that the majority of requests may be legitimate, but we do not have the means to discern these from non-legitimate requests".

Yes, this version of Windows will cause this issue.
I can no longer assist you with this matter.
Sorry,
Bill
