[SOLVED] Will not recognize second drive

I have a Dell 8400 with XP installed. I have installed a second sata hard drive. The drive appears to be running, but it is not recognized. It is not in My computer. I have gone into the disk manager it shows no extra drive running so I can't format it. Can anyone out there help me on this.

Is the drive recognized in BIOS?

Thanks for getting back to me on my question. I did go into the bios this mourning. I went to drives and was able to turn on disk 1, since my main drive is on disk 0. I am formatting the drive as I type this. Thanks, AL
