D: drive and printer drive
Hello~~ I am using a PC with XP Home Edition, my computer is from 2003 its a Northgate.
My issue is: the troubleshooter device is saying RW Drive is running properly. This would be for D: drive. However the light no longer lights up and it no longer opens when the button is pushed. I've tried installing a driver upgrade and then rolling it back, I've unplugged everything and re-plugged it back in - Can't tell if its a power thing, again though its saying there is no issue. My tech guy at work told me to do a few of these things all which haven't made a scratch. But I appreciated his advice. The printer driver is also looking to be reinstalled which is odd, since I don't recall messing with that at all. However since the D: drive isn't working I can't reinstall the program. Is thier an online version of reinstalling or is a Disc the only way, I am using a Lexmark. This all started by the way right when I changed my IP address, I know that sounds stupid but I am thinking that I changed ports or something and now its all wrong and I don't know how to change all I've done. Even though I would still end up with the 2 problems: 1. The RW drive and printer drive. 2. Access to the internet without page load errors. Which brings me to the last issue: I am using dial up right now because even though I have a sattelite connection I can't access a single web page without it telling me I have a page load error. So I have to resort to dial up to find out what's wrong with these 3 issues. A tech guy at the sattelite place told me I could have a virus, I have a hard time believing that but anything is possible, maybe its causing all this havoc, D: drive seems to be empty but in msconfig section its telling me its running something in there, spysweeper. But I have that disc. It's not locked in the d: drive ![]() I can't download anything with dial up, takes to long. I can't use my D drive I only have a A: drive available. ![]() Any help would be of great comfort. Thank you. Last edited by Arikate; 10-06-2008 at 06:03 PM. |

Re: D: drive and printer drive
Hi Arikate,
Welcome to TSF. I will try to help you. First, can you give me the exact make and model of your computer? Second, the exact model number of the Lexmark Printer? Lexmark should have the driver for the printer on thier web site for download (No CD required). I am thinking this is a PC and not a laptop. As far as the CD goes, did you change the power cable that connects to the CD with another free connector off the Power supply? Also go to your device manager and see if you have any errors (yellow or red exclamation marks). This will tell me if your drivers are installed correctly. Thanks, Bill |
