Driver Compaq Presario V6120US

I'm unable to play a DVD. When I checked in the D drive under properties it says "windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corruped or missing (code 39).
When I troubleshoot - it comes back and says I have the best driver.
I am certainly no techy so I'm wondering can anyone give me any advice please.
The DVD/CD-ROM drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N

THANKS - PJ

Re: Driver Compaq Presario V6120US

Hi,
Welcome to TSF.

Are you able to run a CD?
What DVD program do you have?
Go to the device manager>Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware Tab>Device manager.
From here right click on the CD-Rom that is errored>click uninstall>Reboot.

Xp has the drivers built in for CD-Rom so there should be no need for extra drivers.
Upon reboot XP should reinstall the driver.

If that does not work you can try this:

Hope this helps.
Bill
