[SOLVED] No audio!

I haven't been able to get audio on my pc since I downgraded from vista to xp pro. I've no idea why. I actually thought windows update would get me the driver but it didn't so I had to find it myself. Everytime I try to install it I get an error come up:

I don't know what to do now because I don't understand the error. When I check the Device Manager there only one ! and it's the Audio Device.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: No audio!

I see your audio device uses HD audio.
You'll need this patch from Microsoft before you can install any HD audio device:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111
If Windows Update can find the driver, then all the more power to you, but if not, feel free to get back to us. You'll need to tell us what kind of sound card you have, or at least the make and model of your PC.

Re: No audio!

Thanks for the reply. Apparently, that patch doesn't apply to me since I've got SP3 (or does it). The registry tweak didn't work since I don't have that update (KB888111).

I don't know how to find out what kind of sound card I have but the make and model of my notebook are:

Toshiba Satellite P100-434

Thanks.

Re: No audio!

Try the sound driver provided by Toshiba
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...1106151533.zip

If that one doesn't work, try an older version
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...1015135316.zip

I found these by going here to find that the P100-434 is also referenced as PSPADE-01G00UEN then I went to the drivers search page here

Re: [SOLVED] No audio!

Thanks a lot, everything is fine now. The older version of the driver fixed it. :)
