[SOLVED] LG GSA H55N DVD Writer

Hi all

Newbie here, just built a machine and all working great, apart from I can't see my LG GSA H55N DVD Writer anywhere in windows. I can see it in the BIOS set up and used it to load XP onto the machine. The drive has power and is connected to the IDE cable from the motherboard. I have tried to find it in My Computer Disk management, and device manager but no luck. Also changed the jumper from master to cable select that someone suggested.

When the machine fires up it comes up with a line from Jmicron.com which lists the drive, so I got drivers from them thinking it might be that but still no luck, and I missing some setting in the BIOS or do I need IDE drivers.

I hope someone can help

Thanks in advance

Paul

Re: LG GSA H55N DVD Writer

Are there any items in Device manager (devmgmt.msc from a run box) with issues?
When you insert a disk, is there any internal action happening in your PC? (in Windows)

Re: LG GSA H55N DVD Writer

Hi thanks for the response, I have checked device manager can't see any yellow exclamation marks, I have gone into manage and looked in disk section.

The drive powers up and flashes on power up of machine, also when i put a disk in it starts up and the led flashes but then stops and the drive powers down.

Im not sure what it could be, as even with the wrong driver it should still show up in Windows. You tried another IDE cable?
