Question [SOLVED] CD/DVD ROM drive Problem

My CD/DVD ROM drive is not working. It does not read any disks. I'm not sure what to do. Recently, I re-installed my OS due to a BSOD problem. It could read CDs for a bit but now it has stopped working completely.

What should I do?

Re: CD/DVD ROM drive Problem

after reinstalling the os, did you go to the computer manufacturers website and download the latest drivers for it? or was the drive installed separately?

Re: CD/DVD ROM drive Problem

Hi Magicdude,
What is the make and model of this computer?
Does the CD-rom show up in My Computer?
Are you getting any error codes?
Is there any errors in the device manager (Yellow or red exclamation points)?
To get to the device manager:
Right click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware Tab>Device Manager.
If there are no errors, then go to DVD/CD-Rom devises (in the device manager) and click on the + sign to expand it. Right click on the cd-rom and uninstall.
Reboot your PC and see if it works. XP will reload the drivers for your cd-rom.
Let me know how you make out.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: CD/DVD ROM drive Problem

I just logged onto my computer today and everything was fixed - just like magic. It was amazing! I don't know what exactly happened, but the computer must have fixed it manually.

Thank you for replying so quickly and I really appreciate your effort support.

Thanks Magicdude

Glad you got it up and running.
Maybe the reboot (login) resolved your issue
Thanks,
