No sound after reformat and audio driver install

I recently had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows xp sp2

My computer is a Dell Dimension 9100

I have installed the 5 required drivers in the proper order as stated by Dell

All of the drivers have installed and are working except for the audio, no sound at all

Under device manager I'm getting a large yellow question mark with "other devices" with yellow question marks subgrouped under other devices as "Multimedia Audio Controller" and "PCI Modem"

Thank you for your assistance!

Re: No sound after reformat and audio driver install

Elvis, Welcome to TSF.

You haven't installed your chipset drivers. You need to do that so that the OS can correctly identify the hardware, and then the driver will be installed successfully.

Do this:
  1. Set a system restore point.
  2. Uninstall all sound drivers you installed previously via Add and Remove Programs.
  3. Download and install this: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/conf...Name=&lang=eng
  4. Restart
  5. Install the sound and other drivers.
  6. Update Windows.

If you are still having trouble after that, download PC Wizard from my sig, install and run it. Go to FILE, SAVE AS and click OK. Then copy the text out of that file into this thread.

Cheers
