Missing Drivers?

Ok so I have a gateway desktop computer that is about 3 yrs old maybe 4. The other day it was working very slowly on the internet and a specific file would crash the computer when it was opened directly. So I figured "Ok I'll reformat it and see how it works" because a virus scan found nothing, it wouldnt shut off without being forced off, and I needed the internet to speed up. But I didn't think to look for the little "Applications and Drivers" disk that gateway sends with their computers. I only put in the "Operating System" disk. So I am assuming the problem with it is that I'm missing the drivers. I can't go online with it, play music, videos, right now its basically a large jump drive from what I can tell. But to be completely honest I know NOTHING about computers besides how to reformat them and the basics. So I want to know if someone can please find me the drivers(before my dad who thinks I know something about computers for some reason shoots me -.-). Any info you need about the PC please feel free to ask I'll reply ASAP.

P.S. I chose the repair without losing data option on the reformatting disk. My dad wants me to mention that his hard disk only has "12GB out of 100GB empty" and he now wants all the data back that he lost. How can I find it? It says the "Access is denied" to the "Owners" file in the C drive.

Re: Missing Drivers?

Hi,
To help you find drivers, we first need to know the Model of Gateway Computer you have and what Operating System it uses.
Does it not come with a Recovery Partition?
Do you have the Manual or User Guide?

Re: Missing Drivers?

Well I fixed the driver problem. I don;t know about the recovery partition and my user guide is probably wherever my applications and drivers disk is. What I am looking to know now is how to find my missing files, and how to get into a file that says its denied this file sys "access denied" when I try to open it from the admin desktop.

Re: Missing Drivers?

Follow the guide from Microsoft, linked below...........
You must be using an account that has Administrative rights.
If you're running Windows XP Home Edition, you must start in Safe Mode and log-on as Admininstrator.
