Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
Ok, so far I've researched many solutions to this problem, and to no luck, I've found nothing that works.
The issue is that: I've recently obtained a computer from my local city hall [ they upgrade their system about every 6 months and sell the old whiped computers for 10$ each]. So far my problem is 1: My Creative Zen V Plus [MP3 player] is not recognised as a media device. The system reads WHAT it is and gives me that info, but will not connect for any transfers. I've tried using the device manager to upgrade my driver, but it only scans the computer [and i have no disk for the driver]. I've also tried installing a few creative media suits hoping it would include a driver package, noluck either. 2: My CD drive gives me a corrupt disk/ un supported disk format when i throw in a BRAND new W.O.W. card. Same issue with my ZEN, no disk, no online search for driver, and no package includes the driver i need. My OS is a Win. XP w/ SP1. Generally SP2 is recomended for fixing these issues but i lost my copy of XP Pro SP2 [ or more-so my friend has it]. And i figured that it might possibly be easier to fix this through SP1 anyway. Thanks for the output. |

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
Actually, I've tried most, if not all, of those suit's and prog's and none of them contain any drivers for the device itself.
And I've had the same exact problem with SP2 and SP3, I was actually looking for a site or forum with posted Cd data's / installers that contain the driver. The problem is that no-one seems to have the disc posted for download on the net. Got any good suggestions for program sharing sites? |

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
The problem wouldn't be affected by my CD drive, i dont have the CD for it nor can you buy this disk from anywhere by itself, it only comes with the device.
The thing is that my computer doesn't recognise the player as a MP3 device. It will however give me the name of the player, the type/version when it tries to install a driver though, it even gives and error notice saying it cannot locate a driver update via C: drive or CD [D:] drive. Is there a way to force it to connect to the internet to search microsoft for this update? I would assume that they would have a multi-function drive available? |

Are you having trouble with your CD Drive?
"2: My CD drive gives me a corrupt disk/ un supported disk format when i throw in a BRAND new W.O.W. card." To search the Internet for drivers you must enable that option via Control Panel> System> Hardware> Drivers> Windows Update |

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
thanks for the info on how to turn that feature on.
And to 2: yes, the drive is just completely off, it reads regular music CD's and other info, the computer reads input devices like flash drives, but for some reason it will not read game CD's |

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
Ok so i thought this issue was resolved right? wrong..... got a diff comp, worked fine, now that ones gone and im landed with this hunk again.
I enabled the Windows Update feature, and it still only give me an option to install drivers from an internal source [ will not connect and scan for it via the Net ], I've updated this to SP3, installed ALL available updates, and tried a multitude of software suites, and still to my demise, it will just not work. I hate to have you try anything further, but even I want to figure this out just to know there's an applicable solution, and so far even the mass amount of people on forums have not been able to give me one as of yet. As far as the disk drive not working properly, its just dead now, was going out and will only read a select few disc's. |

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
Can you just replace the disk drive with another one? if the same problem persists, its a software issue, if the problem is resolved its a hardware issue concerning the drive and a replacement would be a solution.

Re: Lg CD-ROM CRD-8482B issues
Obviously that was the problem, BUT
The persistant problem is that an MP3 player of mine doesn't connect to the computer VIA any USB port [ direct or HUB ]. But I've already sent and e-mail to CREATIVE support so yeah, I'ma just take this up with them since EVERY other device works fine with this computer. |
