I have bought an LG flatron L225WS widescreen monitor. after plugging it in, i found the screen started jerking when moving windows round or scrolling down web pages. i have temporarily fixed this by stopping all hardware acceleration completely.
i couldn't find a driver for this monitor anywhere, and i cannot get the correct resolution and am instead using a standard screen resolution (non-widescreen). also, most of the options/buttons in the advanced section of the display settings are greyed out and so i cannot use them. help anyone?? thanks in advance

Re: Monitor not working
try opening the start menu and right clicking on "my computer" then go down to manage an select it, in the pop-up window that follows select device manage from the left panel. Look through the drop down items in the list it gives you until you come across "display adapters" open that up and then post what is says under there.

Re: Monitor not working
cant find "display adapters" in the main list or in the sub menus. im guessing this means it needs installing?
the closest i can find is a video controler under "other devices" and video codecs and legacy video capture devices under "sound, video and game controlers". is this helpful? |

Re: Monitor not working
Ok, does your computer have built in graphics then? Also when you have the device manager open does any of those options have yellow question marks next to them?

Re: Monitor not working
Its pretty simple, look at the back of your chasis, if your graphics are built it it'll be vertical along the left(or right side, depending on which side your mother board is attached to) other wise it should b horizontal coming out of one of the expansion slots. The video controller, you need to right click on that and go to update driver, try doing it automatically online, if that fails you need to find whoever made the software, it should say on the driver itself, and go to their site to download the driver and then update from a specific location an select the driver files u dled.

Re: Monitor not working
the PC is a Packard Bell Imedia 1508/2.
as for the graphics card, if it is the one the monitor plugs into it is not built in. when trying to update the driver for the Video controler it cannot find the software and when i go to its properties it shows the following: Device type: other devices Manufacturer: unknown Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0 it also says no drivers are installed, so how would i do this without knowing the manufacturer? |
