Question [SOLVED] no sound on Windows XP Embedded

Hi, I am trying to install a sound driver for a PC-104 stack running Windows XP SP2 Embedded. I have tried a few different drivers, each with the same message: "Cannot load the SoundMax Integrated Audio driver. The driver file may be missing. Try installing the driver again, or contact you system administrator." I have run the drivers in depends, which tells me what files a program needs to run, and all the .dll and .sys etc. are there. I don't understand why it is telling me the driver cannot be found when I installing that driver. I have my system specs in the report.txt, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: no sound on Windows XP Embedded

Hi,
is it not the AC'97 SoundMAX Codec you should be installing?

Tried this one?.......
http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/205/205636.htm

Requires free registration, but it's painless and is a decent website to be member of.

It's the driver for the Intel 82801DB DBM/DA AC97.

Re: no sound on Windows XP Embedded

Hi, does it give you the option to navigate to where the driver is?
It will look for the *.inf file first, then the *.sys file.
Steer it to Windows/inf for the first file and Windows/system32 for the second. (Or the folder that the driver application unpacked the drivers to).

Re: no sound on Windows XP Embedded

yeah. whenever i point it to the files that should have the driver it tells me that it cannot locate the driver, just as it is about to finish the installation.

Re: no sound on Windows XP Embedded

Hi again,
Everything you need should be here.........
http://www.rtd.com/software_drivers.htm

http://www.rtd.com/PC104/CM/886/1588...58886-1400.htm

Before installing the drivers, uninstall any audio/sound drivers and software in Control Panels Add/Remove Programs; Restart and cancel Windows' attempt to search for and install drivers. Run the install program.
Good luck!
