ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0
Hi all this is my first post here I've been browsing forums all day trying to find a solution to this headache of a problem, so I figured this website seems pretty knowledgeable.
Anyway, so I have a Nvidia 6800GT and my friend just gave me a ATI TV Wonder 200 USB 2.0. So it took me a few hours of just searching around for drivers and software because my buddy just gave me the unit along with power cord and usb so I had no CD or anything. Finally, I found what I needed, it was one driver download, but three seperate software downloads, everything installs fine except for one software application, and of course it is the most critical... the encoder package. So I looked around through some troubleshooting I found the error I was getting and the "solution" that ATI posted... "The information in this article applies to the following configuration(s): * ATI Multimedia Center 9.15 * TV Wonder USB 2.0 <-- My Model * TV Wonder PRO * Theater 550 PRO * Theater 650 PRO * HDTV Wonder * Windows XP Professional * Windows XP Home Edition * Windows XP Media Center Edition Symptoms: Attempting to install the required ATI Encoder component for ATI Multimedia Center 9.15 with a non-ATI graphics card results in an error: "Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration." Note: ATI Multimedia Center 9.16 is the last ATI Multimedia Center software version that will be developed. We apologize that this issue could not be resolved." So after reading that I was pretty frustrated that they don't even make software for, even though they are rivals, nvidia. Maybe its so they think they will just get me to buy there products but really it makes me want to throw this thing at a wall and never buy ATI again. (I know what your thinking, I didn't buy it) =] I'm not a fan of ATI at all but I figured why not give this thing a shot if its free. I was just wondering if anyone has found a substitute for this encoder package I need. Here's the links to the information I found so far. Software + Drivers http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...erusb2-xp.html Troubleshoot message http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...asp?deptID=894 Thanks -Matt |

Re: ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0
Hi, this reviewer seems to have managed to install it on a nVidia system, although with reduced functionality. He apparently used ATI Multimedia Center software (9.02).
Have a look at his Quick Installation paragraph.......... http://www.everythingusb.com/hardwar...er_USB_2.0.htm Worth a try with the 9.02 software? If so, remember to uninstall (get rid of all traces of) the previous version beforehand. Last edited by Houndog777; 07-15-2008 at 10:15 AM. Reason: Add |
