tsst corp cd/dvdw problem

i have a gateway gt5620 running vista. today the tsst corp cd/dvdw ts-h652d stopped working
i get this error message (code 39)
windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware the driver may be corrupted or missing.

i've tried to uninstall from the device manager and let windows find it and it comes up with the same error.
