Question Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

Hi,

So i had to do a full re-install and format. My problem is that things don't seem the same! My device manager shows that 3 drivers are not installed, i have tried updating them over the internet etc and it cant find them.

The drivers are as follows:

SM Bus Controller
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

My motherboard is an ASRock 775i65G, I have tried downloading the drivers to cd and it still wont pick them up! So i was wondering if anyone knows how to install these, where to get them from so everything is back to normal?

My screen seems a bit funny when scrolling up and down the page, like it is lagging? PC Spec is not bad 3.0GHz, 1GB RAM.

So any help would be great, i think i am nearly there after this!!

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

You burnt the drivers on the cd? If so load the cd and click on
what youve downloaded. They may be zipped files, when they unzip
you will have to know where they are unzipping to. I usually make
a temp folder and use it for those sort of things. But by default
I think they would go into the my documents folder.,or maybe the
system folder. They wont automatically install, you have to click
on the setup or install folder. You should get chipset drivers that
will take care of your video to a degree. Sound drivers if onboard
sound, ethernet drivers if you have onboard ethernet.....

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

hi,

Yeah i have downloaded them, unzipped them and then burnt them to CD. I then go to device manager right click on the device and update, i do it auto and then browse, either way i dont get anything.

Its just the above 3 that i cannot install or update, it has '!?' over them.

These are the drivers i downloaded, and i cant seem to install them.

I then open the folder where the extracted files are and open the Setup.exe and i then get:

"One or more files are required for installation are missing or corrupt. setup will exit"

That was for the VGA Driver - it opened 'Intel graphics install' but i cant seem to get these 3 devices installed.

I dont know if this is what is affecting my pc, as my screen is lagging when scrolling and the windows dont fit the screen, little hanging off the screen.

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

Dont go to device manager. Go directly to the cd where the
drivers are stored. Install from there.
If it were me I would install chipset drivers first, then video, then
sound, then ethernet.

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

Would the devices missing mentioned above me 100% related to the ASRock motherboard or could it be something else?

What order would you run the setups for each of them, as i cant see any descriptions for them as you described above?

AMR
Audio
HDMR
INF
VGA

I have gone to the setups of each and i get error messages for each install, but i didnt do it in any paticular order, but each one failed to install and the devices are still missing for the 3 mentioned above. I just dont know what do at all.

Sorry if i'm being bit dumb mate

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

Are you sure you have the right drivers? I posted a link to the mobo
you mentioned. I would put inf drivers on first. The order will
not make them corrupted.
Go to that link I provided, click on your download, win 98 drivers
will not work, click on them and try to open from there, or run...
Save the drivers on your pc, put them in a temp file, forget the
cd..
find the xp drivers, click run from there or save to a temp file and
run.....

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

I have tried this again and its still the same, i got rid of the SM Bus Controller by installing:

* Product: Intel(R) Chipset Device Software
* Release: Production Version
* Version: 9.0.0.1008
* Target Chipset#: Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset
* Date: May 01 2008

But i cant get rid of the video controller and video controller vga compatible devices still missing, could there be anything else i could try?

The vga driver is on asrocks website. All of the drivers are there.
Make sure you select the driver for your operating system.

Re: Missing Drivers - Cant find them and pc doesnt work as normal?

I have tried it again, the properties of the device show no existence of the device,

Provider - unknown
not digitally assigned
etc

i have tried updating the driver, reinstalling it, browsing to it, searching for it, going to 'have disk' selecting display adapters selecting the ialmnt5.inf file and i get the following message:

'the specified location does not contain information about your hardware'

I have tried running the setup directly from within the Unzipped folder i get an error with that as well.

There just seems to be no recognition of the driver at all. It is the correct XP driver from the link you provided. cheers
