Scanner Driver

I have Vista and I'm looking for a driver for a UMAX 2000U scanner. I believe it uses the TWAIN interface, so even if I could get a generic driver that would work, I would be happy with that.

Via Google I see you are not the only one with this problem.

Since you have the link, I assume you tried to contact UMAX Tech Support

They should provide Vista drivers for all their products.

I did send them an email ealier, not sure when they would reply back to it though. I also have tried a few other things I seen through a search from google, but still nothing works.

I don't kno a lot when it comes to scanners (outside of normal use of them).

I have downloaded the drivers for Windows XP (off of their UK site), and another driver from VueScan and when I go to install the device, in the end it gives me an error saying

"Windows found driver software for yor device but encouteed an error while attemptig to install it

UMAX Astra 2000U

The system cannot find the file specified"

Also if it is possible, can anyone tell me if I can just take the drivers off of Windows XP since the scanner does work on there (with drivers that came with the OS). and how I would go about doing this if at all possible. Even if you're not sure it would work, I will still give it a try

if you're using scsi, then this " Vuescan" is supposed to work.......

Have you tried going into Device Manager, right-clicking on the scanner and choosing update driver; then directing it to the driver files on your original Umax install disc? Worth a try.

I have tried Vuescan, it supports this model scanner but not the ones with usb (which is the one I have), I don't have the orginal disk, but I downloaded the driver from their website, uncompressed it and tried to get the driver installer to take it from there which also failed
