[SOLVED] Vista SP1 Not available through WU
I have read the microsoft article and im unsure what the cause is. I believe it to be that my drivers are not updated and i have just updated my Realtek AC'97 drivers to the latest version from the Realktek website (V6.0.1.6285) and microsoft says: Alcxwdm.sys - version 6.0.1.6242 or earlier will not allow SP1 to be updated so mine should be OK. However I still cannot install SP1 via WU and im unsure if the Realtek AC'97 installed correctly - how do i check? Using driver detective I see that many other drivers are out dated, some I have attempted to update and had success. However I tried to update some but they are not the latest version. I know something i wrong with my audio drivers since with XP I had a panel that automatically detected jacks I plugged in. With Vista I had this panel a while ago before I had to reinstall Vista. The panel says it will not work correctly with Vista and I should get new drivers but i cannot find them? When I install the drivers I have no panel. The drivers that are outdated are:
Intel 82801G Ultra ATA Storage Controllers 27DF Belkin 54g Wireless USB adaptor (my model is F5d7050 Realtek High Definition Audio - this could be the problem as im sure the panel was called Realtek HD. Intel 82801G SMbus controller 27DA Intel 82801 PCI Bridge - 244E There is nothing about the AC'97 drivers I have my motherboard CD but it does not work with Vista for some reason as errors appear. My PC was originally used with XP however I have upgraded which has led to the uninstalled drivers. Last edited by kungfuturtle : 06-24-2008 at 11:09 AM. |

Re: Vista SP1 Not available through WU
I have successfully updated the Realktek High Definition Audio by downloaded the codecs from the Realtek website. Driver Detective state that the device is updated to the latest version. However I still donot have the control panel I had before. Do I need a driver as well as a codec or does the codec contain the driver?
Thanks |

Re: Vista SP1 Not available through WU
Have used Foxconn LiveUpdate and got the Realtek HD update from there so thats done plus i got the control panel. However it did install chipset drivers but they are still outdated. I tried fom the website too but no avail. Foxconn website is really poor and looks outdated itself. It offered me the driver for my LAN driver v 9 whereas WU offered me V.10 which is still not the latest version. So my Marvell Lan Driver also needs updating... :(

Re: Vista SP1 Not available through WU
Thanks again! All devices updated but still no SP1 I have a hidden update on WU for the belkin 54g adaptor. but installing makes the device no longer work and i have a better version already? I have checked through the article and im sure this could be the only possibility and im definatley not running SP1.
