Acer Travelmate 280 USB Error (please help i need them to work asap)
I have a ACER TRAVELMATE 280, my computer was redone and ever since then i have a question mark near my Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller, any way it says
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." But it says their enabled, obv theirs an error and they need installing but i dont have to software to do so and im a college student and i dont think ill have enough money to be able to pay to get it done at a shop but i need my USB ports so i can do my work and transfer data, any help please i need it rele badly. thanks. |

Hi,
Are you talking just the USB ports (Nothing connected to the USB ports)? If you have something connected to the USB port disconnect it. If you are using XP SP1 or higher then the drivers are there. If you just have XP (no SP) then do a MS update to SP2. Open the device manager> right click on the error>uninstall>then Reboot. Check in the device manager again to see if the errors are gone. ive uninstalled it but now it says wen i try to reinstall them it says it cnt find the software on the laptop any more help also it says that my Windows isnt GENUINE ahh what can i do about that. thanks for helping again.

What service pack do you have (SP1, SP2)?
If you windows is not genuine, you must activate it Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Activate Windows. If you are unable to activate, you may not get the updates to get the USB working. you need SP1 or higher. Who "redid" this computer (a friend, computer shop)? Was this an illegal copy of XP? If so we are unable to help as it is against the rules. Bill
