Ati X1300?
Hi there people...
My problem is a many layered thing. My computer works well until I try and play a game (ie. Battlefield 2) Basically what happens is as soon as I get into the game, it freezes (both picture and sound) and then my screen goes black (as if on sleepmode). However I can hear the game running perfectly well (I am obviously still able to run around and shoot... I just can't see!) Anyways, after some helpful-help on here, I came to the conclusion that it was my PSU's lack of power, however I believe that it's just the matter of not having the right ATI driver... as I used to have ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 series... And Battlefield 2 doesn't support that. SO... After a lot of restarting and deleting files... I used this walkthrough on uninstalling said ATI driver... http://www.driverheaven.net/windows-...-properly.html So after uninstalling and deleting all files using the 'Driver Cleaner Net' programme, my computer showed signs of having no proper driver on it.. (Everything turned huge and scrolling was sluggish and slow)... Anyways, I then proceeded to this website to get a new ATI Radeon driver... http://ati.com/support/driver.html Once there, I proceeded to download 'ATI Radeon 9800 Series' - which is one of the many supporting drivers for Battlefield 2. Blah, blah, blah, I downloaded it, restarted computer and everything is back to normal! Normal size etc. Now to what confuses me... I go to Control Panel>Systems>Device Manager> Display Drivers... And it still says Radeon X1300/X1550 series!!! Is this thing indestructable!? It is to forever haunt my computer?! Please, please, if anyone can help me... Is it driver issues? Or is it in fact the PSU's fault (which just doesn't make sense... Seeming as it's such a new computer and it shouldn't have a problem with a game like this..) Here are my CPU specs if you need: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc....htm#wp1052631 I will really appreciate any sort of input... Many regards, OD. Re: Ati X1300?
Hi,
What is the exact make and model of this PC? If it is a Dimension C521, it comes with a ATI X1300 graphics card. Therefore an ATI 9800 driver will not work on this card. You would have to replace the card. Bill |
