Sound Max Audio Driver Not Found
Hello,
I just reinstalled Windows XP onto my Dell 4550 with the idea that it would run like a new computer. It seems to be running quicker now. Unfortunately, I don't have any sound. I have attempted to install the driver off the disc that is labeled Dell demension resourceCD. When I attempt to install the Sound MAX audio driver a pop up comes on saying that the audio device is not found and to reboot the system and run the setup again. I have found other threads where people seem to have the same problem. One of the threads recommends that I go to my BIOS and turn the audio on. I have searched my BIOS and can't seem to locate this particular area. I was wondering what I could do to get my audio to work again. |

Re: Sound Max Audio Driver Not Found
Hi,
Welcome to TSF. First, go to the device manager and post any errors. Have you done a full Microsoft Update. If not please do so. If you have a Dell Dimension 4550 then your drivers can be found here: http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid= Do you have an intergrated sound card or was an aftermarket PCI card installed? This is very important. As far as the Sound in the BIOS it is under integrated devices. Here is a manual for your unit: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...up.htm#1097056 Look under System setup or view settings. If you have just the integrated sound card it should be set to ON. Hope this helps Bill Last edited by BCCOMP; 05-25-2008 at 07:43 PM. |
