USB Network Adapter and Windows Vista?

My desktop has Windows Vista. I bought a USB Network Adapter so that I could tap into a WiFi connection. The problem is that the Vista-appropriate drivers are only available online, and I can't access the internet through the desktop--duh! I tried downloading the driver onto a flashdrive and transferring it onto the desktop that way, but it won't let me d/l the driver!

What do I do? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Use a friends pc to dl them, or the library, or an internet cafe.
