bluescreen,frustation,vista
I'm having some bluescreen issues and I hope someone can help. For starters I have windows vista sp1, the blue screen I am encountering is (IRQL-NOT LESS OR EQUAL) This problem* almost always occurs when I am either playing a game or quit a game, but somtimes when surfing the internet or just at idle. The problem started when I added a second 8600gt in sli, I have removed the second card and still plauged with blue screen after bluescreen. I have ruled out memory and other hardware as being the culprit. Windows says that the problem was caused by my NVIDIA forcware drivers, a bios problem,or a memory issue. I have tested my memory no issues, updated bios, my nvidia drivers are up to date. I dont know where to go from here win vista is such a mess it seems like as soon as i fix one problem with this highly insoficient poor exuse for an operating system a new and improved problem is right there to laugh in my face and im tierd of it!*but any way enough venting about that I have attached dxdiag any help would be appreciated.

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
Hi,
What power supply do you have? Are you OC'ing the CPU? If so, reduce the OC. Monitor the temperatures and voltages with SensorsView. Attach a few mini dumps in zip format to your next post. The dump files are located in \Windows\Minidump. If there are no minidumps: 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click System. 3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery. 4. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k). How to post an attachment. |

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
Hello thanks for responding. I have a PC POWER&COOLING SILENCER 60 amp 750 watt single rail power supply, I am overclocking, I have an Intel Q6600 overclocked to 3.0 ghz. I dont think that is the problem I have already reduced the clock speed ( previously 3.2 ghz and passed 24 hours of prime 95) My temps are running 28c. at idle and roughly 40-45c under load. I have a decent aftermarket cpu cooler made for overclocking. My cpu core voltage is set at 1.33 volts. I have a new message on the Windows problem reports&solutions that reads "during the crash analysis, we noticed the bios system version on this computer does not match the specifications for the cpu. I dont understand I have an XFX NFORCE 680I, I also have the latest bios. I know for a fact my motherboad supports Intel 65nm quadcores. Should I try to install the bios that originally came with the mobo? I am attaching two minidumps in zip format

''IRQL-NOT LESS OR EQUAL''
Makes me wonder of a RAM Issue, Either faulty ram or underclocked... How much RAM do you have and who is the manufacturer? |

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
Could it be a conflict with a NVIDIA driver? I dont know how much this is true but I heared that NVIDIA drivers have been the cause for several Vista errors&and crashing problems.

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
Before you check anything else. get on corsair and find ou the sufficient Volage for YOUR ram. Is usually 1.8v but for instance mine is 2.1-2.3v so yours maybe underclocked.

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
Hello eneles. . Hi timjacobus. . . The STOP error messages from the two memory dumps are (no typo - the first is 0x0; the second 0x1): STOP 0x0000000A, (0x00000000, 0x0000001b, 0x00000001, 0x8267ea1b) win32k.sys STOP 0x1000000A, (0x00000000, 0x0000001b, 0x00000001, 0x8264a57) win32k.sys I have your dxdiag report, but would like additional items if you don't mind: • Belarc Advisor report saved as a web page (html, mht (IE7/8) or as a 2007 (only) Word document docx. You can download Belarc HERE • MS32info NFO file - START | type msinfo32 into the Start Search box | right-click on msinfo32.exe | select Run as Administrator | respond to User Access Control prompt | System Information will then come up | save the report in System Information File (NFO) format by selecting File, then Save As. • Event Logs - Get them all - >50 of them -They are located in: c:\windows\system32\winevt\logs. Please see my PM for email address - do not attach Belarc to a post as it contains secure information. In the interim... Going through the dumps it was hard not to notice that you have Speedfan installed. Please un-install it. I also saw two Grisoft AVG drivers - one was AvgArCln.sys, the AVG Anti-Rootkit Clean Driver and the other was avgclean.sys, which I believe belongs to AVG v7 based on its date of 12-03-07. AVG v8 does have the same named driver, but with a time stamp of 12-19-07. Was there an infection at one time, hence the root kit detector? Or is this more of a preemptive strike vs. a retaliatory one after-the-fact? Regardless, please un-install both as their 2007 pre-SP1 modules were very close to the BSOD memory offset location. Too close for comfort. Should you choose to do opt for AVG v8, you can find it HERE. That is about it for now. Please send those items and I'll look at them over the weekend. Regards. . . jcgriff2 |

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
I have uninstalled speedfan&avg,I will download Belark after this post. To the question posted by eneles (the exact bluescreen message) I have not had a bluescreen since I have been home, is there a way to find that information? Attached is the msinfo, I will have to attach the logs in another post due to the size

. Hi Tim. . . I pulled the STOP error messages that you would have seen on the BSOD screen from the memory dumps themselves. Also, I just re-sent a PM originally sent to you about 9 hours ago that contains instructions for the log files. Thanks. Regards. . . jcgriff2 |

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
. Hi Tim. . . I picked up 75MB+ of files including the 52 log files. Sorry for the time that it took for you to upload, but I have found these items to be vital in any BSOD case. A cursory look at the various reports shows conflicting RAM info - Slot 'A0' has 1024 MB Slot 'A1' has 1024 MB Slot 'A2' has 1024 MB Slot 'A3' has 1024 MB Some show the above, while others show total installed RAM as 2048MB (2GB). What is the RAM amount installed as far as you know? Regards. . . jcgriff2 |

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
The amount of ram installed is 4096 mb, I read in maximum pc that it was normal for a Vista system to not report all the ram installed when it is more than 2048 mb, but the system is supposed to use it all. I have actually noticed the same thing. But the problem started before the other two sticks of ram were installed. Thanks

Re: bluescreen,frustation,vista
. Hi Tim. . . No matter how many hours that I spend pouring through the memory dumps, I keep coming back to one particular area and need some further explanation from you: Code:

What about the AVG Root kit driver that I mentioned in my previous post...? Did the scan done by ThreatFire pick up any viruses (I see one that is quarantined - au_.exe, but this may be a set-up module being protected)? How sure are you that this Vista install is free of viruses? It appears to me that this system came on-line (or was originally set up) in November 2006. When did you purchase it and when was the last re-install of the OS (i.e., have you ever re-installed Vista, and if so, when?)? Also, please un-install Uniblue Registry Booster and anything related to Daemon Tools. I see that you have the Windows Firewall enabled... are you also using the firewall from PC Tools ThreatFire v3.5.0.21? If so, please disable it for now as having two firewalls will ultimately lead to disaster if it has not already one so. Finally, there are several (dozen ?) non-Microsoft drivers in your system. Some look to me that they may be from the days of XP. Please check in with the Windows Problem Reports and Solutions. What does it tell you regarding program compatibility problems? Perform this: START | type wercon.exe into the Start Search box | right-click on wercon.exe | select Run as Administrator | respond to User Access Control prompt | Problem Reports and Solutions screen should appear Any ? - please let me know. Regards. . . jcgriff2 |
