Dell Inspiron 1150 Usb ports and Sound not working

I wasn't sure what to put this under, a friend has a Dell as above that when he plugged his camera into the usb port threw a bit of a wobble and the Usb ports and sound haven't been working since. In the device manager all the hardware looks like it's all ok but it's definately not working. I think he said that it may have said that the USB port was overloaded??? Can anyone help with this?

Hello,

I've got the same problem myself, did you find out what was wrong?

Re: Dell Inspiron 1150 Usb ports and Sound not working

Sorry for the delay in replying but...no I haven't been able to fix it yet. I think there was possibly a power surge when the camera was plugged into the laptop, I suppose the question is...what is the likely damage? Does it need a new mother board to fix the problem?
