my liteon 487t does not show up on device manager it shows in my computer but when you put a disk in it it tells you to insert a disk. I have a nec 2510A

Reading your other posts makes me think you have a corrupt Windows installation.

I have a preinstalled version of winxp No cd's to use.

do you have 2 burners

nec 2510A

I have nec 2510A and liteon 487t one is a burner and the other is a cd rom. My liteon was not showing up in my compter or device manager now it is and windows just hangs when I turn it on.

remove the upper and lower filters

there may be a break in one of the wires in the cable,try a new 80 wire cable on it
